We’re Hiring – Yard Operative, Derby Central

A great opportunity has opened up to join the Total Hire & Sales team at our Derby Central depot. 

We’re looking for a keen and enthusiastic Yard Operative who’s hands-on, reliable and ready to support our friendly and hardworking team.

Attention to detail, good customer service and strong communication skills are key.

About the Role:
You’ll keep the yard clean, safe and organised, helping to load and unload vehicles and work closely with our drivers and operations team. 

You’ll also use a forklift to move equipment – full training will be provided. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload equipment from lorries safely and efficiently
  • Deal with customers on-site and ensure they are loaded/unloaded in a timely, professional manner
  • Maintain a tidy, well-organised yard
  • Check equipment and materials in and out
  • Work with our drivers and depot operations manager
  • Operate a forklift (training provided)
  • Follow all site safety procedures

What we’re looking for:

✔ A dependable, reliable, proactive team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced outdoor environment

✔ Attention to detail and commitment to safety

✔ Forklift licence not essential, training available

✔ Driving licence preferred but not essential

✔ Good communication and customer service skills

✔ Willingness to work as part of a team

✔ Previous yard or warehouse experience is helpful but not essential

✔ Forklift experience is a bonus – but not required

Job Details:

Full-time, permanent

Salary: Dependent on experience
