A Fond Farewell to a Total Favourite… Anne Varney
Starting off at Total Hire and Sales cleaning depots, Anne Varney has become a pivotal part of the Total team. At the end of May, Anne bids a fond farewell to Total as she retires into her next chapter. She tells us more about her time in the business and what she looks forward to in retirement.
Anne, based at the Derby central site, joined Total Hire and Sales in 2016 as a cleaner in all the depots. A year later she became a receptionist and then Hire Controller. She has been the friendly face and voice of Total Hire for customers dropping in or calling to enquire about and book all kinds of hire ever since.
At the end of May, Anne will be hanging up her Hire Controller hat to enjoy her retirement.
When not at work, for the last seven year she’s been building and renovating a house in Spain and will be moving out there later this year.
Talking about her time at Total Hire and Sales, Anne said: “The thing I have most enjoyed about working here is the people I work with. They are all great and it has been lovely to work with such a friendly and helpful team.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed working alongside my colleagues, past and present. I really appreciate all the help they have always given me. I have great memories to remember them all by and I am going to miss everyone.”
“I’d also like to say thanks to the customers that I have enjoyed speaking with and helping over the years. It’s been a pleasure. Thank you.”
Although she’ll miss her work colleagues and their chats and all the Total customers, she certainly won’t miss getting up at 5am or the traffic on the way home. She’s looking forward to having more time to herself and a slower pace of life in Spain.
Over the next few months, she’ll be spending as much time as possible with her family before the big move.
