Ashley began his hire career at A-Plant, where he started as Plant Apprentice before quickly progressing to Plant Fitter. He joined the Total Hire and Sales team as Workshop Foreman eight years ago, based at the Derby central site.

Ashley’s job is varied and demanding. As well as looking after the workshop staff, he is responsible for managing machine breakdowns and organising plant and tool hire repairs. He’s also in charge of servicing and overseeing plant pre-delivery inspections (PDIs), and liaises with the office team on what machinery is needed on a day-to-day basis.

It’s a challenging role, but Ashley finds it rewarding when the machines are working properly and all of the day’s problems are sorted.

Hardworking and easy to get on with, he enjoys working for Total Hire and Sales because, as well as being a good company, the team is great – he wouldn’t change a thing.

In his spare time, Ashley’s a bit of a speed demon with a passion for enduro motorbikes and competing in riding trials.
