Getting to know… Pete Varney, Operations Manager
Pete Varney, Operations Manager at Total Hire and Sales, is responsible for the smooth running of our Derby Central depot. We spoke to him about starting out as an apprentice and keeping pace with the speed of the job.
Pete has been with Total Hire and Sales for 16 years, having joined us as an apprentice straight out of school.
Based at our Derby Central depot, Pete’s primary role is overseeing the day-to-day running of the depot. He also works closely with Total Hire and Sales’ other Derbyshire depots, managing the transport for the delivery and collection of our hire equipment.
Pete enjoys the speed and diversity of the job and the fact that there’s always something new to learn each day. The family feel of Total Hire and Sales and being part of such a close team are also big plus points of the job. He considers himself a team player who thrives on giving a good service and getting tasks done.
When he isn’t at work, Pete enjoys spending quality time with his family.
