Getting to know… Richard Steven, Hire Manager
Richard Steven, Hire Manager at Total Hire and Sales, is responsible for keeping our hire kit in tip-top condition. He talked to us about why he enjoys the pace and variety of the job.
Richard joined Total Hire and Sales as a Hire Manager 11 years ago, based at our Derby Central depot. Before joining the business, he worked as an Assistant Pub Manager, occasionally stepping in as Relief Manager when needed – so he’s no stranger to hard graft!
In his role, Richard is responsible for dealing with customers, taking orders and helping to ensure all tools, plant and equipment is ready for hire, along with completing the relevant paperwork, for the following day.
No two days are the same at Total Hire, which is something Richard enjoys about the job, including the day-to-day pace and variety. Beyond the day job, Richard is a season ticket holder for Derby County. He also enjoys spending time with his family or gaming in his spare time.
