Total Hire and Sales Digs in for Local School’s Play Project

Total Hire and Sales recently stepped up to help St Mary Magdalene C of E primary school in Sutton in Ashfield with free equipment hire to develop a new outdoor play project.
The Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) primary programme is an international, award-winning scheme based on the idea that, as well as learning through good teaching, children also learn while they play. The school was keen to launch the year-round initiative but approached Total Hire for support with equipment to help lay the groundwork.
Total Hire and Sales donated a 0.8 tonne mini digger, a petrol turf cutter/lifter and 1 tonne skip loading dumper free of charge for a weekend so the project team could develop the space, saving the school over £800.
Thanks to the generous donation, the school has made great progress on the outdoor play area, which will play a huge part in boosting pupils’ physical and mental wellbeing.
In a note of thanks, Samantha Hallam, SEND TA and Play co-ordinator at St Mary Magdalene C of E primary school, said: “Thank you for letting us use the machinery. It has made our project progress beautifully, and we are very grateful.”
Andy Hickingbottom, Director & General Manager, Total Hire and Sales, said: “We are always keen to support the local community where we can, and the OPAL scheme is a really great project. People often lack the right tools to get started on a job, so we were pleased we could help the school out.
“It’s great to hear the outdoor play area is taking shape and will hopefully be a space for many schoolchildren to enjoy for generations to come.”
